FYI.....the previous blog entry was from me...Ruth Hancey Boshell, Nellene's daughter. I failed to add that to the All Day Sucker Blog. My daughter in law just posted it to the blogspot because true confessions....I am technology 'slow'. She just sent me instructions of how to add my own message so.....here goes.
Trivia question #1: Was the forbidden 'pit' we were supposed to stay away from an old potato pit or was it the old compost pile??? As I recall it was north of the outhouse. Can anyone clarify that for me????
Trivia question #2: How many chicken coops did Grandpa and Grandma have? My recollection is 3.....or was there one back by the garage as well?
The person who has the answer just might get an ALL DAY SUCKER at the reunion!!!

How long does an ALL DAY sucker REALLY LAST??
To those grandchildren of Orpah and Knute think back to days spent in Newton. I’m sure that you all remember the times when Grandpa would go over to the corner grocery store….wasn’t it called Barker’s or was it just owned by the Barker family? At any rate Grandpa would come back with a brown paper sack filled with what he called ALL DAY SUCKERS….those round, sphere shaped colorful lollipops! My choices were always the same….the black (licorice) and the brown (rootbeer) flavored suckers. I remember that we carried around small glasses full of water and that we dipped our suckers in the water before licking them. Yum! With all of the treats we are spoiled with today, I doubt that ALL DAY SUCKERS would be as highly anticipated and appreciated today as they were in the 50’s and 60’s.
So…how long did those ALL DAY suckers last?!!
