Trivia Question......

Hey Fabricius Cousins,

FYI.....the previous blog entry was from me...Ruth Hancey Boshell, Nellene's daughter. I failed to add that to the All Day Sucker Blog. My daughter in law just posted it to the blogspot because true confessions....I am technology 'slow'. She just sent me instructions of how to add my own message so.....here goes.

Trivia question #1: Was the forbidden 'pit' we were supposed to stay away from an old potato pit or was it the old compost pile??? As I recall it was north of the outhouse. Can anyone clarify that for me????

Trivia question #2: How many chicken coops did Grandpa and Grandma have? My recollection is 3.....or was there one back by the garage as well?

The person who has the answer just might get an ALL DAY SUCKER at the reunion!!!

Taster's Table Recipes

Grandma Fabricius' Sliced Nut Cookies (Ice Box)

1 C. brown sugar
1 C. white sugar (heaping)
1 heaping cup shortening
3 eggs beaten well
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. cloves
1 + 1/2 t. salt
4 +1/2 C. flour
2 t. soda in a little warm water
1 C chopped nuts

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs slowly, mixing thoroughly, then add nuts and soda water. Stir dry ingredients together thoroughly. Mix wet and dry ingredients together thoroughly. Make into rolls (log shape) and wrap in waxed paper or plastic wrap. Refrigerate a few hours or over night. Slice in 1/8 to 1/4 inch slices. Bake @ 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.

Luncheon Recipes

Best Ever Banana Cake (Joelle)

1 + 1/2 C. white sugar
1 C. sour cream
1/2 C. soft butter
2 eggs
1 + 1/2 C. mashed bananas
1 t. salt
2 C. flour
1 t. baking powder
1/2 C. chopped walnuts (sprinkle on top of iced cake)

Mix together the sugar, sour cream, butter and eggs. (You may substitute 1 cup milk + 1 T. vinegar for the sour cream). Mix the dry ingredients together and blend until smooth. Pour onto a greased and floured baking sheet (roll pan). Bake at 350 detrees for 20-25 minutes (bounces back when touched).

Banana Cake Icing

1/2 C. butter
2 C. powdered sugar
1 t. vanilla extract
3 T. milk

To make icing, melt 1/2 cup butter until delicate brown (don't use margarine) It foams when it boils so stir away the foam while cooking to see that it's not burning. Mix in powdered sugar, vanilla and milk. Blend until smooth. Spread on cake while the cake and icing are still warm. Top with chopped nuts immediately.
